Abstract


Investigation of Secondary School Students (5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Grades) Continuing Motivation for Science Learning
The aim of this study is to determine the reflection of Science Curriculum of 2013 to the students’ continuing motivation for science learning. Moreover, variables which are thought to have an impact on continuing motivation for science learning have been examined, such as gender, last grades of science course, membership of an academic journal, books read on science, movies watched on science, out school activities on science and having family members interested in science. As a descriptive study, the sample consisted of a total of 356 students in Denizli in 2015-2016 academic years. To collect the data, “Continuing Motivation for Science Learning” questionnaire was used. According to the analyses, continuing motivation of secondary school students for science learning significantly differed in terms of their class. Furthermore, their continuing motivation was significantly affected by the variables of students’ avarage means of science course, membership of an academic journal, books read on science, movies watched on science, and out school activities on science. There was no significant difference between gender, and having a family member interested in science and continuing motivation for science learning.
