Abstract


Determining The Views of Teachers and Parents on Supporting Social Skills at Preschoolers
Social skills is the ones that should be supported starting from the very early years of life. In the current study that was carried out with the support of TUBİTAK as “The Project of Support for the Preschool Social Skills – OSBEP”, it was aimed to obtain the views of preschool teachers and families with a child at the age of preschool education on supporting social skills at children. In this purpose, Focus group interview technique, which is one of the descriptive methods, was used in the study. Working group comprised of seven teachers teaching at preschool education schools acting under Karabük Provincial Directorate of National Education and eight mothers with a child at the age group of four-six attending these schools. The interviews were carried out as two sessions of 60 minutes each with teachers and mothers. In results, it is likely to say that it is necessary to carry out a detailed study of need analysis benefitting from the data obtained from the focus group interviews, so determining the needs of preschool teachers and parents in terms of social skills.
