Implementing the Community Services Course: Practice Examples and Evaluation of Students’ Perceptions
The purpose of this study was investigating methodologies implemented and outcomes observed in a course called Community Services at the Faculty of Education. The participants of the study were 44 university students enrolled in the course which lasted for 14 weeks. During this course several projects were developed and implemented. In order to evaluate the group and class projects and overall course evaluation participants were asked to write journals and reports about the activities performed. Content analysis of reports indicated that there were seven themes in participants’ reflections. One of the most important results which could be drawn from the examination of projects was that participants’ consciousness and awareness on community services were raised.
