Abstract



The purpose of this study is to determine the activities of school managers to provide motivation by caring of views of managers and class teachers. For this purpose, in the education year of 1997-1998, 105 female and 81 male ( totally 186) managers and teachers were surveyed in the city centre of İstanbul. A questionnaire form was prepared by surveyors to collect the data. The frequency and percentage values of the collected data were analysed according to “x2” and “t” statistical distribution tests and the results were interpreted by tabulation. It was found out that the school managers mostly use the motivation techniques which are more important. Actually, the motivation techniques such as personal appreciation and interpersonal relations which are less used by the school managers were evaluated as much important as the others and they help to increase motivation and hence the in-service education for managers is included in suggestions.
